Course Description

When: March 9, 2026, 6:00pm - 9:00pm PT (3 hours total) Where: Musicians Institute: Rm 340, 1655 N. McCadden Pl., Hollywood CA How Much: $99 This focused, hands-on workshop is designed to help actors sharpen their dramatic work specifically for the camera—where subtlety, truth, and control matter more than volume or theatricality. Actors will work on emotionally grounded material in a professional, supportive environment, learning how to translate strong dramatic instincts into performances that read clearly and powerfully on screen. The emphasis is on listening, behavior, and specificity, not “performing the emotion” includes: • How to scale dramatic choices for close-ups and medium shots • Staying emotionally present while hitting technical marks • Making strong, playable choices that feel natural, not flat • Avoiding common on-camera pitfalls (overacting, underacting, self-monitoring) • Using stillness, breath, and thought to drive performance Actors will work with scripted scenes (sides provided in advance), receive direct, actionable feedback, and have the opportunity to apply notes immediately on camera. This workshop is ideal for actors who feel confident on stage but less certain in front of the lens, or are preparing for film, TV, or dramatic self-tapes.
