Course Description
When: March 11, 2026, 6:00pm - 9:00pm PT (3 hours total) Where: Musicians Institute: Rm 340, 1655 N. McCadden Pl., Hollywood CA How Much: $99 This high-energy, camera-focused workshop helps actors develop comedic performances that feel spontaneous, grounded, and camera-ready—without forcing jokes or “trying to be funny.” Actors will work on scripted comedic scenes and improvisational exercises designed specifically for the camera, where timing, listening, and restraint matter more than volume or mugging. The focus is on truth first, comedy second—letting behavior, circumstance, and relationship do the heavy lifting. Participants will explore: • How comedy plays differently on camera vs. stage • Finding humor through listening, reactions, and stakes • Using improv to unlock stronger scripted comedic choices • Playing the moment honestly instead of “punching the joke” • Understanding rhythm, timing, and when not to do something Actors will receive clear, practical feedback, with opportunities to adjust and re-work moments on camera in real time. Improv is used as a tool—not an end goal—to help actors loosen up, take risks, and stay present. This workshop is ideal for actors who: • Want to feel more relaxed and confident in comedic material • Freeze or overthink during comedic auditions or self-tapes • Struggle with timing, reactions, or playing humor truthfully • Want to strengthen both scripted comedy and improv instincts Whether you’re aiming for sitcoms, comedic film, or sharper auditions, this workshop will help you build on-camera comedic skills that feel natural, specific, and repeatable.
