It is with deep sadness and immense gratitude that we announce the closure of Theatre of Arts. After nearly a century of training actors, storytellers, and creative artists in the heart of Hollywood, the school has made the difficult decision to cease operations.

A Legacy Nearly a Century in the Making

Founded in 1927, Theatre of Arts has been a home for artists from all walks of life — from newcomers stepping onto a stage for the very first time, to established professionals returning to sharpen their craft. Our alumni have gone on to win Academy Awards, Golden Globes, Emmys, BAFTAs, and have left an indelible mark on film, television, and theatre around the world.

Names like Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, Clint Eastwood, Natalie Wood, Shirley Temple, and Gregory Peck have all passed through our doors. Yet the true measure of our legacy is not just in the famous names — it is in the thousands of working artists whose lives and careers were shaped by what they learned here.

What This Means

The decision to close was not made lightly. Over the past several years, we have faced the same structural challenges affecting arts education across the country — shifting enrollment patterns, rising operational costs, and an evolving industry landscape. After careful consideration, we have concluded that continuing to operate at the standard our students deserve is no longer possible.
